The Sustainable
Energy Facility
Novera Energy was granted planning permission in September 2006, for a new Sustainable Energy Facility near the Fairview Industrial Estate, Rainham. The facility will reduce the amount of waste which could otherwise be sent to landfill and will provide a source of renewable energy for the Ford Motor Company Limited’s operation in Dagenham.
The facility will be supplied with 13 tonnes of biomass fuel per hour and will be capable of generating around 10MW of sustainable energy (64% of which is classes as renewable). This fuel is residual household waste, left over after recycling. The waste used during the course of this procedure will come from households in East London. The Sustainable Energy facility is not an alternative to recycling, but utilises the remaining product left after recycling has taken place. This makes for a more a sustainable and efficient solution to waste management in East London.
